Meat and Vegetables

In this house, now the hamburger restaurant ROADHOUSE, once was a store that sold meat and vegetables - hence the name.
The house didn't look like this in 1964 when I started work here in the meat department. There were no windows on the round gable and no trees or even a pavement in the back...
I worked here in all my vacations from school, The Commercial Collage of Iceland, until 1969 when I became a shop manager in a shop that sold household appliances.

I had worked here two months when the shop manager's brother came to visit and told his brother that I was their cousin- our grandfathers were brothers. After that I had to behave correctly as I was related to the shop manager - and two years later I was a stand in for my uncle when he was on summer vacation.
