CHAPEL AT LES CONTAMINES

There is a well-visited chapel, Notre Dame de la Gorge at Les Contamines; but if you walk further up the valley, cross a bridge over the glacial river, and climb first some steps and then hewn rock ledges, there is a tiny chapel built against the rockface. It is a magical place. I feel sorry for people who visit the magnificent Notre Dame de la Gorge, but miss this gem. I found the story of the little chapel once but have now forgotten it. If I find it I will edit this journal entry.
