An Alien Visitation

Another visitor has crawled out of the bush...

This is just one example of the many species of tree weta in NZ (this one's a male). Living up in the bush we often see them in amongst our firewood, but this one came into the house before being relocated.

To give you an idea of size this one had a body about 10mm across and about 90mm in length including the antennae.
