Today we drove to the RSPB reserve at Leighton Moss. The birds had disappeared from the two hides we visited but fortunately along the paths there were some butterflies, damselflies and hoverflies. There was also a breeze which made photography more difficult. I spotted lots of different pink and purple wild flowers too, some of which I still have to identify from the photos I took.
I hadn't noticed until I was editing the photos that this damselfly (Common Blue I think) had caught it's mid-morning snack.
We moved on to the hides at the edge of the bay and found hundreds of birds, mostly black-tailed godwits, lapwings and black headed gulls. Also a few oyster catchers and avocets.
