Rollin...

So, it rained.  All night.  In the morning, we had an unexpected paddling pool inside the front of our tent.  

As I unzipped the front, so I could bale out, I was met by a mist of midgies.  Up until that point, we were camping, midgie free.  Suddenly, after the rain, the air was full of them.  Within minutes, we were covered in bites - the girls in particular appeared to be the favourite snack for them.  

After mopping up the water and trying to rid the tent of the wee beasties, we headed off to the Glencoe Visitors Centre where we walked up the tracks, hunting for pine martens and deer, but only finding a beautiful golden-ringed dragonfly, sitting on the forestry track.  The SBG spent ages looking at it.  

After an hour or so up in the hills (thankfully, no midges), we headed back to the centre and into the Glencoe exhibition, which was really interesting, and then over to the gift shop, where the kids bought some crappy soft toys (one of the legs fell off a bear before the end of the day) and I got a bird guide book.  

By now it was close to feeding time for the SBG (to be honest, any time of the day is feeding time for them), so we drove along to Glencoe Mountain Centre, for some food, and so the kids could go tubing.  They had a ball.  £5 for an hour of tubing - well worth it.  While Iain watched them, I opted to take the chair lift the 2200 ft up the mountainside for some scenery viewing.  Turns out, I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to sitting on a rickety old metal chair, several feet above the ground, swaying about in the wind!  But, I did it, and the views were worth it.  

By the time I made it down, the kids were waiting, all hot and sweaty, after their fun afternoon.  

Once back to the campsite, they went off and played, while we started sorting things out for the journey home the following day.  

In the evening, we waked along the track to the Clachaig Inn, where we had a hearty dinner.  Fit to burst, we headed back to the campsite and had a bit more HP before bed.
