Carry on camping...
After some huffing and puffing and a bit more swearing, we finally loaded the car with the rest of the things, plus children, and headed off.
A beautiful drive in the sunshine to Comrie Croft, outside of Crieff.
The tent pitching took slightly longer than anticipated (we'd not practiced, it was hot and the 3 extra helpers weren't always helpful), but we did it, unloaded the car, set up the beds and went exploring.
The kids loved using their new fishing nets, at the pond up the hill.
Iain wrestled with his hay fever and I picked raspberries from a bush close by and enjoyed the sun.
Once back at the tent, we got a fire going, made dinner on our stove, and toasted the obligatory marshmallows. The kids found some other children, and they all set off to play on the rope swing in the woods beside the tents.
Once the SBG were rounded up, hosed down, cleaned up and bundled into their sleeping bags, we sat at the fire, reading, drinking and enjoying the summer evening.
The holidays have begun.
