Do no 'arm
More training in the slinging of fractures, dressing of burns and treatment of lacerations, abrasions, contusions and impalements.
As we set up the fake arms and dummy torsos at the start of the day, my colleague Ros remarked that we looked as if we were setting up a window display at Benetton.
I'm here with my colleague Jenny and Ian the trainer. Jenny has been with the organisation for more than twenty years and has nearly died from falciparum malaria contracted in Cambodia, saved at least one species of snake from extinction on Antigua and performed CPR on lizards. Currently one focus is a goat eradication project on the Caribbean island of Redonda, that seeks to protect native reptiles and seabirds from predation. Jenny never loses passion for fieldwork and is a conservation legend.
