Winter can come

The old beech I felled last Thursaday has now been sawn, split and stacked but as it's so dry will be able to use it this winter. Have also cut & stacked all the small branches & the twigs are in a box to use for firing up.
Franz, from yesterday, reprimanded us back in 2002 when we cut down a tree & were about to bonfire all the smallish branches " the branches are the best bits" so now we try to take the time to use as much as possible. Of course he's right but sometimes you feel there is more work involved than it is worth.
