Cornwallis.....
The Cornwallis wharf was built c.1926-1927. In 1954 it was in a bad state of repair and the outer section of the 195m long structure was demolished with usable timber salvaged to repair the inner portion. A new wharf was built in the late 1990s and is now the last of the Manukau's 16 ferry wharves.
Many were fishing off the wharf, native birds were singing, children playing, boats coming in, such a wonderful place just to rest for a while on a beautiful warm Sunday, our last day in this stunning area, kind of sad but a new location is quite exciting! :)
Happy Sunday :)
