Bite Me!

Off to Dartmoor today to meet up with Gilesey with Nibbler and mydartmoorwalks for a .... you guessed it, walk on Dartmoor! I overslept and AH14 got the wrong time for setting off but did wake me at 9 thinking we still had plenty of time but that I should get up, so we arrived 20 mins late!
We walked the route mydartmoorwalks had taken me on my first ever blip meet, to Kingston Hill Cairn circle and stone row. I had tried taking AH14 there on her stay with me over a year ago, but failed miserably in finding it! Such glorious weather and great company. Mydartmoorwalks and Gilesey played silly nonsense on us with what they called "the turning stone" - she basically walked behind it and came out backwards - and they call me mad! We saw a group of ponies having a peaceful rest at the top of Combshead Tor, and after the others had started walking on and I was still faffing around taking photos, they began to make their way down. As I watched and photographed them they each  stood still at these rocks and turned to look at me before continuing down. Taking their turns at being the star of the photoshoot! This dark one seemed to take exception at the other one stopping to graze and bit his back end!
We made our way back to the carpark via cuckoo rock. As I rootled around in my bag for the car keys AH14 opened the boot to retrieve her sandals. Mydartmoorwalks had warned me not to leave anything on view as the area was a prime spot for car thefts.  I just looked at AH14 in total shock with her going "what?" I had not locked the car! I blame the haste I felt in setting out for the walk after keeping the other two waiting! Seriously, until AH14 came to stay I would check I had locked my car at least twice whenever I left it, this whole holiday I have needed reminding by her - the one time she didn't I hadn't!!
We  had lunch at a great pub at Meavy sitting outside in the sunshine and 25C heat with a very smelly Nibbler as she had cooled down in a very smelly bit of water near the end of our walk! ! After the other two left we took photos of a very ramshackle building with rags beneath  a flaky blue painted hatch door and had a look inside the church and then made our way home.
The evening became an increasingly frustrating and painful one for me. I managed to slam the car boot on my head, it really hurt! Then I could not find my photos and when I did they came up in a mixed up order. I grew increasingly frustrated, my bump on the head turned into a headache and then began to mutate into a migraine, and when I made myself an expresso thinking insufficient caffeine may be playing it's part as to how I was feeling, I managed to get the capsule wedged in so had to use tweezers, at which point AH14 started stifling laughter, not very well stifled might I add! Expresso made I then realised I had made a decaffeinated one as I was going to bed and did not want to be kept awake, but of course that would not help my caffeine level if indeed it was even playing a part! I went to bed shortly after that - "overtired" as the little lad on the car advert used to say!
