Walking in the woods
Once a month I walk with a group of 'girls'.....we travel by public transport, and we have a lovely day out, nothing very challenging, just good company, a glass a wine perhaps at the end. A very pleasant day.
Today 22 of us took the train into Glasgow and then walked up to Queen Street Station for the train to Helensburgh. We had a coffee and snack stop at the lovely refurbished square in Helensburgh, and then walked up the road to the Hill House, the Rennie McIntosh house which is worth a visit. (see extra shot). We did not visit as we have all done this before, but paused for a moment before heading along a high track above the town which goes through beautiful coniferous forest and descends into the small village of Rhu, just before the Rhu Marina. From there we walked along the edge of the Clyde, to our favoured picnic spot, a lovely wee group of trees with some benches under them, and there we ate our 'pieces'.
From there it is a half hour's walk along the front to the Railway Station, after said glass of wine of course, and then home.
A lovely day out. And the weather was kind, no rain, lots of sunshine, although not as warm as yesterday, thank goodness.
