Zig Zags On The Line
Well you have heard of leaves on the line or wrong type of snow or rain but now you have zig zags on the line well there is two reasons for that we see here that the zig zags are made up using welds to create a ridge which you will find going into dead end lines towards the buffer stop to help give grip as most of these lines can be contaminated with oil/fuel to help stop the train colliding with the buffers and secondly they help by creating the track circuits that enables the signaller to see that there is a train in the platform as contamination could give a reading that does not show there is a train in occupying the platform so now you know what these strange zig zags are for
