Life Amongst the Life Jackets

I took the Scenic Railway trip up to Kuranda today and whilst there did a river trip on the Barron River. I'm not sure what these gorgeous little birds are but this one and others flitted in and out of the boat and obviously consider it to be home, as you can see from the nest built amongst the stowed life jackets. This nest is a bit rough and ready but the extra shows another, more perfectly formed one.

A highlight of the day was discovering the Peter Jarver Gallery and viewing some of his fantastic landscape photos which were even more spectacular as LARGE art works. There was one in particular that I would have purchased to have sent home if I had a spare few thousand dollars. If you haven't discovered Peter Jarver before, his work is well worth checking out online at www.peterjarver.com. Sadly he died of cancer at the tender age of 49 in 2003.
