14th July in France means fireworks!

We spent the day exploring the beautiful chateau at Azay le Rideau, once again getting an exclusive tour thanks to the lack of other English speaking tourists.

In the evening, we went into Chinon, to join what seemed like the entire population of the town, to watch the fireworks. We found a position right in the middle of the bridge, with a great view of the chateau, where we expected the fireworks to be, and waited for the darkness to fall and the show to begin. However it turned out that they were actually being fired from the beach right next to the bridge. They put on a fabulous show, including lighting displays across the chateau so we were in a fabulous spot to see it all. A good end to our holiday. Extras are of the river as the sun was setting, some fireworks, and the chateau in the midst of some red smoke.
