Mono-Monday: Lines

60plus has chosen "Lines" as the optional theme for Mono-Monday this week.

Here are some lines designed to keep us safe. Not only are there "zebra" lines on the road to help us cross safely, there are lines of raised dots on the kerb ("curb" in the US) to help visually-impaired folk feel where the kerb is. An excellent idea.

At the far side you can see the base of the "Belisha beacon" which flashes an amber-yellow colour to alert drivers to the crossing. Wikipedia tells us that It was named after Leslie Hore-Belisha (1893–1957), the UK Minister of Transport who in 1934 added beacons to pedestrian crossings.
