Breakfast downstairs at 9; they love the free rein to have what they want. And by 10 we were out exploring; meandering, getting lost but not. 

We managed new nails for G; a lap of St James Park for the benefit of the boys, a football top for Alex and eventually we grabbed some sandwiches and a deck chair and watched some of Wimbledon for a bit. Then to see some Toby Paterson and Quentin Blake at the Laing; back to base before another more extensive foray to the Baltic; some good stuff. We hung about; there were some end of school people in stretch limos getting photos taken on the bridge which kept us amused; the boys watching the cars (a pink Cadillac for one), the girls for interested in the dresses.

Dinner and back to the hotel for TV / books / phones / nonsense.
