Arran Ferry
This is a shot very much for our family record. It shows the Arran Ferry at Brodick pier which has been in use during part of each of the last three centuries. Four generations of my family have arrived and embarked from it since probably the early 1900s. I can say confidently I am the last in my family line to do so as the new £50m pier will open in November.
So many coming and goings and greetings and fond farewells including the one captured below in a short story I published on blip earlier this year.
So often our family have huddled in the lee of the white shed in shot which has stood the test of time incredibly well. In recent years greeters and well wishers have been prohibited from even standing on the pier!
There will never be a departure or arrival like the ones that took place at this pier in its hey-day. Happy times!
The extras have Dd and I separately in front of Brodick Bay.
