Rebuilding in Progress
A hook up with the son, food shopping, sitting out on Constitution Street.
And late afternoon after weeding and lounging it was time to leg it - a home game! My first view of the new stand taking shape from inside the ground - apparently I'll be sitting over there come September. We'll see.
So, a friendly against Newcastle. We managed to squeeze into the Diggers beforehand- the place was packed and raucous with steaming Geordies in full song. Still, it was all good natured - apparently they hate the hibees too, and quickly picked up the words to that. What banter, indeed.
Oh yes, match report. Well, Newcastle 'rattled the bar' inside the first minute, and 'found the net' within three, all of which pointed out certain errr frailties in the Hearts defence. After that 'early wake-up call' however we upped our game, missed a penalty, and even 'netted an equaliser.' This stung Newcastle so they quickly went ahead again. The second half was a bit bizarre - I think both teams substituted their entire starting elevens. Back to the Diggers for a quieter pint or two - Hearts had 'given a good account of themselves'. That's the last home match till the 9th of September against the sheep. Come back and read my match report then, blippers!
