I want Candy

A Common Candy-striped Spider (in 'ovata' form). There's an astonishing world of wildlife you can happen upon just by lifting a plant in the garden... I've started uploading all my sightings to a national recording service called iRecord - makes me feel like I'm doing some good, beyond just fascinating myself.

Relaxed day after breakfast and picking up Liz and taking her and my mum to their hotel. T'was off to the garden centre, ostensibly to get some supports for various plants, which turned into more dahlias joining the fold. I've grown some from the bulbs this year, and really taken to them, and the colours of the blooming ones in the garden centre grabbed me. There's not much in the garden I'm directly responsible for, but the cherry tree I grabbed a few years back has given us a good crop this year (so may make some more cherry brandy; and the grape vine that I planted a couple of years back looks like it's trying to give us its first crop this year. So my hit rate is improving.

Nice Indian meal in the early evening, before cocktails in a bar that miraculously emptied the closer to Marti Pellow and pals taking to the stage, so Mel and I stayed for another couple.

Off to view a house we don't want to buy tomorrow (long story, may tell it tomorrow)...
