Horn Please

We came home in peak hour traffic in a bubble of an Uber car, in cool air conditioned comfort, watching music videos and a short documentary on young entrepreneurs, acutely aware of and enjoying the luxury of traveling in such style. Outside the noise was deafening and it was the usual hectic throng of people and vehicles on the roads. Only last week, we had walked, caught the metro, taken an auto rickshaw and were immersed in the surround sound cacophony of traffic and horns blaring.

There is rarely a second of silence in Delhi, least of all out on the roads where the use of horns is encouraged, frequent and which are usually blaring nonstop, to the extent of it being part of the city's soundtrack. There are signs on many trucks that say 'horn please'.
