Gaudy?

The French marigolds I planted at the allotment are very bright in colour but a bit different to the usual deep red and orange varieties.  I wonder if their vibrant colours mean they will attract more insects - that being the reason for planting them in the first instance and secondly because last year they put on such a beautiful display I was able to cut them and put them in vases.  I've got some more subdued and more rustic looking English marigolds under my fruit trees - I will have to try to show you those another day!
