Luxor Temple

An early evening wander was the plan. Thought it would be quiet and perfect for photos.

No.

Rows of coaches running their engines outside the main gate, meant hundreds of tourists inside (But that's ok, we need them, mustn't grumble)

Luxor Egyptian & European Festival Film crews were interviewing at the main entrance of the Temple. Crowds gathered to watch the directors as the talked freely about their profession under the bright lights. Cameras flew around to capture panoramas of the setting sun on the ancient columns and statues.

A variety of Nationalities were here. It made me smile at some of the conversations I overheard from people as they wandered and admired the magnificent skill involved in the building of such a place. One lady commented about the protective mesh on the lintels..... 'I thought that was a big bird cage, but now I realise it is to keep the birds off the stones'

I slipped away to the West of the Temple, where I could wander alone and get different perspective to the hoards inside, that stuck like glue to their guides and hung onto their every word.

Luxor Temple was built by Amenhotep III and runs parallel to the River Nile, from North to South. The overseer of this magnificent project, was the revered architect, Amenhotep, son of Hapu, who also built this Temple
