Had a bit of a look at a potential job today. Basically surveys around various old knackered pipe bridges (water this time). What is often interesting about canal surveys is how tricky they can be logistically. So often we can pull up on site and can start work fairly quickly but in this case the bridge in question is best part of a kilometre away from the nearest public road. This can then cause much wasted time lugging theodolites, GPS recievers and other survey kit onto site.
