Memories of year 1

Phoebes homework this week was to draw, write or make a model of her favourite memory of year 1. She was adamant that her favourite memory was of her handwriting lessons! I said "what about the trip to the farm, the trip to the supermarket, gardening club, Christmas nativity....?" but no, her mind was made up.

So

We made a giant pencil! She helped to paint it yellow. She reliably told me that all school pencils are yellow. She then wrote the alphabet in upper and lower case letters to stick on. Around the top she wrote I love handwriting.

We got lots of looks as we walked through the playground this morning. Phoebe made me carry it half of the way as she got a bit self conscious. She was so excited to show her teacher and said this afternoon that she had to stand at the front of the class to show everyone.

I hope she gets a house point....
