Sophie In Pursuit Of The Gruffalo

We went to Haldon Forest near Exeter this morning to walk The Gruffalo Spotters Trail. There are various wooden sculptures, nature information boards and, at various points, clues to the whereabouts of different characters from The Gruffalo books.

When you find them, there is an app you can download and, when you point your phone at the sign, an animation of the character appears.

Even more impressive (to me, at least!) you can position yourself next to the sign and have your photo taken with the character, as Sophie and Kate did here. Needless to say, Chris had to help me with the technology on this one!

After a picnic lunch we went to Teignmouth for a walk along the front and a round of 'adventure' mini-golf. I managed to get two holes in one on consecutive holes - and Chris still beat me overall!

Teignmouth is a charming and uncommercialised traditional resort to wile away a sunny afternoon in.
