Warning........

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Today was a beautiful September day - lots of lovely golden bales in the fields, late flowers and St Andrews bathed in sunlight.

Took heaps of harvest photos (just for a change!!) and decided, after lunch with a lovely friend, I would try my hand at street photography....

Scary stuff!! It's a real art form taking candid shots of people going about their every day business. I kept expecting someone to come up and thump me!

Anyway, I got a few shots I liked - the one that almost made it was two workmen having their fly smoke, leaning on a car bonnet ogling a young woman walking by (no, not me!)....

When I got home I looked again at my old lady photo and chose it because I LOVE the poem! OK, so her hat is not red but the image fitted so I ran with it. If my Lightroom skills were up to it I could have given her a red hat but who cares... She was a lovely soul too - she apologised for being in my photo when I was actually trying to take the photo of her coming towards me.....

May wait a while before trying more street work - not good for my blood pressure!
