Monet's House & Garden.
Today we visited Claude Monet's house and garden as well as the Palace of Versailles.
The trip to Versailles was the whole point of V coming to Paris and, regrettably, it was a bitter disappointment to her. It was pouring with rain, the place was heaving with rude and pushy tourists from the Far East, there were no guides and the audio guides were only available for visitors in organised groups. Apart from that it was great.
It was also raining when we arrived at Giverny for our walk round Monet's garden but it somehow seemed more genteel. My only criticism was that all his paintings were displayed in a single, smallish, room with a lot of people crowding round to try to view them. The blip shows the front of the house and part of the garden. Photography was not permitted inside the house and the Gestapo were there to ensure that the rule was obeyed.
