Michaelmas daisy
A domestic day... I should have gone to Orton Pit again but felt quite tired and wanted to prepare for the coming week, when Alex would return to college and Chris to university. This involved lots of washing, stocking up at Sainsbury's and taking Chris out to buy stationery, new shoes and jeans. All this humdrum activity left little time for photography, and this bright Michaelmas daisy saved the day.
This was transferreed from my Mum's garden in Essex over 17 years ago. I don't know the variety, but in recent years it has provided a welcome splash of autumn colour. For the first few years it sulked, hating our cold damp clay soil after the warm free-draining sand it originated from, but it seems to have eventually adapted to its new home.
