Saffron Crocuses

My recently retired neighbour seems to have got the gardeneing bug.

This morning bright and early, before breakfast, he arrived with this bag of saffron crocuses he had just received through the post.

He has split the bag up between a number of friends and neighbours and wants to compare results. Sounds to me like a competition.

I can't imagine how fiddly it will be to harvest the stamens and how little saffron we will probably all get. Still, got to show willing.
