A Cold Start

We didn't get as much snow as I expected overnight, but this afternoon seems to be making up for it as flurries continue and temperatures plummet.

This was the view not far from home on our way to Christchurch today. It was a slow journey as we tip-toed our way through the ice on Thompson's Track, only to abandon our trip when the snow really started to come down at Rakaia. I'm pleased we turned back, as the snow here this afternoon is getting heavier and I would have hated to have been stuck without being able to get home.

Unfortunately our visitor for the next few days is now stuck in Christchurch until we can get to pick him up. Hopefully it won't be long as Jack is dying to see him again!
