San Leonardo

San Leonardo sits at the north end of the beautiful Val Passiria, 20km from Merano. It felt like a genuine Tirolian village and it seemed apt that it should be wet with the clouds swirling around the trees on the hills.

Naturally we found somewhere to have refreshments out of the rain and sure enough the waitress was wearing a Dirndl, first and probably last one this holiday!

Having checked the map I see that we were only about 15km from the Austrian border, explains the strong Tirolian feel.
