Santa Monica Beach

Today we visited Santa Monica and Venice Beach. All along the beaches you can see these iconic lifeguard stations for watching the bay. No sign of the Hoff these days though Pamela Anderson is rumoured to have a house in the nearby Hollywood hills.

We rented bikes and cycled along the beach path to Venice Beach. It's a very colourful neighbourhood with lots of tacky shops, street artists and of course Muscle Beach. I had just pulled one cycling over so decided not to try any weight lifting or chin ups.

There is a skatepark right on the beach where some locals where demonstrating their tricks for the crowd of onlookers. Chris regretted leaving his board back at the house but then spent the rest of the day in the sea enjoying the surf.
