Unst Bus Stop (Bobby's Bus Shelter)
Shetland bus stops often have a chair in them to make waiting more comfortable, but they aren’t all decked out like this one. It is near the John Peel memorial traffic island on the main road near Baltasound. John Peel would be delighted to know that his influence on people was still alive and well in such a remote place. We had been back to Hermaness earlier to go to the north end of the reserve, and get a look at the furthest north point in Scotland, Out Stack, which lies north of the Muckle Flugga lighthouse. The first extra is a panorama of the stacks including Muckle Flugga and Out Stack. The second is of Edmondston’s chickweed which is endemic to a small part of Unst, only growing on the serpentine rich soil of the Keen of Hamar national nature reserve.
