A Helping Hand

I've been to my cousins all day today. I had a message last night that he was really poorly. He has dementia and his body has started to shut down.
It was a sad sight. Here was the man who loved life and lived it to the full now in a bed downstairs and couldn't even hold a glass to his lips.
All dignity has gone. I really hope this doesn't go on too long for his sake. He did wink at me and managed to give me a kiss as I went.
The priest came and gave him his last rights. Forgave all his sins...I doubt he had many to forgive. He was that kind of man. Only 66. Far too young.
I'm glad I was there to help out today.
