Glamis Castle

L and I decided to go further afield today travelling up to Glamis Castle which was the childhood home of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the Queen Mother who died in 2002.

We planned to have a tour of the castle but so many people arrived at the same time as us that we decided we would go back at a later date nearer the end of the opening season when it would be a little quieter.....we hope.

We thoroughly enjoyed walking through the gardens ..... beautiful herbaceous borders in the walled garden and perfect symmetry in the design of the Italian garden.
