Wooly aphid

There are just a few of these insects flying around the garden but two years ago there were hundreds. It was a strange sight. They are barely visible when flying and they are such a subtle blue colour that it almost seems one is imagining the colour. The "wool" on the aphid is actually a waxy coating. These wooly aphids are pests but interesting nonetheless.
