We've Come A Long Way

The older photo was taken on 29th January.   Today's photo - 5months and a few days later.

When we started working the allotment we never dreamed it would end up looking like this.  We never dreamed we'd get so much pleasure working side by side digging up and planting, and building.    Our weekends revolve around doing something up here, and then fitting in everything else.

Everything is growing .... (excepting the massacred cabbage)... but we have replacements.  Today we weeded all the weeds which invaded while we were away on holiday - 3 bin bags of weeds!   Himself constructed a netting for the Brussels, and repotted the evils.

We picked some rocket which we had for dinner alongside some mozzarella and parma ham and raspberries which are going in Jam.

I fixed the onions.  They had "bolted". I wandered round to check with other allotments exactly what Bolting was... Apparently the onions go in to flight or fight mode and grow a flower to reproduce.  Caused by them thinking they are dying.  Only 7 of the 35 of them had done this, so it's not all bad.  The onions apparently go hard and sour.

I also got lessons in using the petrol mower from the Lovely R, and then mowed the paths around the plot.

Then we went home and drunk gallons of juice, and went for the shopping and stopped in at Aunties, and then we slept in the garden for an hour - just to top up the tan :-)

:-)

Ready for bed now
