A Helping Hand
The last day of our Festival. After the ride up to Ferniehirst Castle the cavalcade returns and goes through the town and down to the Old Bridge where the riders ford the river. There was a fair amount of water in it this year and some good splashing.
But everyone made it safely. Even the tiny tots. Some were accompanied by an adult who had to wade, but ex-Callant Yourston had a better solution - a rope.
Then it was over to the War Memorial for wreath-laying and an act of remembrance. A hidden piper plays a lament and then there's the last post and reveille.
Then the riders make their way back into town and disperse, and the party begins!
