Helena at the Woolpack in Slad
We had a bit of time after a trip to Cheltenham late in the afternoon, so popped in to the Woolpack for a quick tipple. The Woolpack was Laurie Lee's local when he was at home in Slad, which is about three miles up one of the valleys leading down to Stroud.
It has become a bit of a foodie pub but still has a lot of character and charm. It sits on the steep side of the valley looking over towards Swift's Hill. The landscape is still very much as Laurie Lee described it in 'Cider with Rosie'.
After a quick visit home to feed Bomble and to water the garden we went out to the preview of the Rock Art exhibition which I blipped yesterday, so that Helena could see the exhibition too. Do visit it on Saturday, the last day it will be showing, if you can.
