Trencherman
AJ is a regular Thursday volunteer at the surplus food cafe. He loves food and honestly couldn't think of anything he didn't eat, even sloes - those intensely astringent wild berries that pucker up your mouth.
He very probably would eat the trencher if we served meals on thick mediaeval slices of stale bread (from which the term trencherman derives).
Here he is about to tuck into vegetable fritters with jacket potato and salad, with rhubarb and strawberry crumble to follow.
AJ also takes home with him each week a box of surplus surplus that we cannot use or accommodate.
