French Red Underwing Moth

It landed on an old beam, and when the wings were folded completely it was very well camouflaged, but when the wings opened the underneath was very colourful. I hadn't seen one of these before.
Not as hot today, only 30 degrees , so I went out for lunch with the girls, leaving hopalong at home with one of their husbands who is brought quiche, salad and tarte au citron in a coolbag for the two of them!
