Brian's Garden Journal 4 July 2017
I wandered to other parts of the garden today, and found some more signs of Summer. Top Left is a Comma butterfly, and Top Right is a Red Admiral.
We have made many attempts to grow wild flowers over the last few years, but the seeds hardly ever seem to take. We had some wild Poppies last year and one or two have re-appeared as you can see, plus the pink flower as yet unidentified.
Bottom left is an architectural feature of our house which I understand is a Belvedere. (We call it "The Folly"), and bottom right is a view of the house seen through some of the bamboo which grows in several places here.
Three recent sightings that I have not managed to photograph since I started this journal, are Dragonflies which appeared yesterday, the first this year, a Sparrowhawk which came to a branch near me today, before moving on, and the Green Woodpecker which is a regular on our lawns.
