for Onions

Although these beauties are indeed decorative, they are being grown specifically for onion seed next year.

They will be flowering very shortly, assuming the weather improves, and all being well, will be pollinated by my bees.

The seed heads are then removed and allowed to dry in a paper bag on top of my central heating boiler.

The onions this year are in full growth and I am looking forward to lifting some.

There is a mixture of red and yellow onions because, needless to say, I got the seed muddled up a couple of years ago!
