The Whaligoe steps in Caithness.See extra blips.

What an amazing place. 350 steps down a cliff side to a wee place where the local crofter fishermen used to land herring and sometimes whales. Still maintained only by donations by a guy called Davie....a right character!.... whose family all fished and worked from the bottom of these steps. The women were an integral part of the labouring too sorting and salting the herring and carrying the heavily laden baskets up and down the steps. If anyone gets a chance to go it is an amazing wee place.
You can have your picnic on the 'bink' at the bottom of the steps. Oh and there is a cave too.....more pics tomorrow.x.
