Wide Open Spaces

I have had a lovely day, starting with morning tea with the church ladies, then after lunch 'The Boss' from Tussock Tales and I headed to the Snow Farm to go snow shoeing.  The extra photo is of one of the snow fences.  I liked the lines and shadows.  It was a lovely afternoon with the sun shining, even though it was -2C.

Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tensing climbed Mt Everest, the first people to do so.  Hillary was knighted the following day.
The Queen was crowned at her coronation.
At the end of the year, she and the Duke came on a visit to NZ.  Our family went to see them just down the road from where we lived..I can remember thinking that she had a wonderful complexion.  
Tangiwai Disaster  :  While they were in NZ a steam locomotive plunged into the Whangaehu River, killing 151 passengers  That happened on Christmas Eve.
