Pocklington Canal
The canal connects Pocklington to the River Derwent. It was completed in 1818 and used to carry coal and agricultural produce, but fell into disuse with the advent of railways. There is now an active preservation society and during the summer they run short boat trips. This morning we walked the dogs along the towpath and they enjoyed swimming and finding 'lost' balls.
