Diary of an Edinburgher

Norway Day Five

We went through Hell today.

Literally. There's a place called Hell just north of Trondheim, and we passed through it at the end of our marathon train journey (10 hours!).

But before we left Bodø on the train, we had the most wonderful breakfast, including fresh orange, kiwifruit and strawberry juices. And I had a freshly made pancake the size of a car wheel. The young chap made it, flipped it over, cut it in half and handed me one half. I must have looked slightly disappointed, because he then added the other half with perhaps a slightly disbelieving look on his face.

We got the train at midday and didn't get in to Trondheim till 10.05pm. Mind you, it was a scenic trip, once we were out of the clouds, and there was free wifi, so it wasn't too bad.

We've all remarked on the lack of wildlife - there are even hardly any seagulls, and we never see any livestock. But today we saw two horses, five cows and two mooses elks, a mother and her baby.

Not many opportunities to get good photos today...
