An English Sunday afternoon.
When the sun shines.
This afternoon we walked from Harlow Carr to Valley Gardens in Harrogate. It was very busy and we could here music playing (brass band I think) at Harlow Carr as we walked through the woods. In the park people were also listening to a brass band and picnicking. Tennis, Bowls and skateboarding in the relevant areas were also going on.
Most English of all perhaps was this queue at the cafe for ice creams! The cafe used to be the New Magnesia Well which only closed as a pump room in 1970. The Old (original) Magnesia Well has been restored and was also open today. It closed in 1895 in favour of the new one!
A very pleasant afternoon ending with tea and cake at Betty's on our return. The only downside was I missed the last vanilla slice!
We met friends and Alex at the pub later and are now just back. A good way to spend a birthday.
The 2nd of July is not only my birthday but it is the middle day of the year!
Whichever hemisphere you are in 2017 is half gone and it is now either all up or down hill! How did that happen!
