Ruth, Ollie & Henry Travers

Went up to see Ruth today and she insisted I have a look at her Olearia Henry Travers, which is flowering like a thing possessed!  It is sheltered at the back of their house and does incredibly well, out of the worst of the wind.  

She's now 81, and she and husband Jimmy work in their polytunnel and garden all day, just about every day in the spring and summer.  They have a huge fruit and veg garden and bring on hundreds of plants from seeds every year, both flowers and veg.  

She's great company, full of stories and tales of things that happened here in the past.  We always end up laughing - and Ollie always gets a piece of homemade shortbread!
