The B That's Really A Double-S

Strictly speaking it's an Eszett or a sharp S.  And they introduced the capitalised version of it 2 days ago.  The lower case version  is "ß" and the upper case version in text is this ẞ.

They regularly revise what's called the Rechtschreibung (Orthography) - and to be honest , it just makes a difiicult language just that little bit more complicated.

While thinking about this Blip I learned of the Antiqua-Fraktur dispute.  After Napoleon occupied Germany and dissolved the Holy Roman Empire there was a huge dispute about what typefaces to use for publishing.  Antiqua was seen as "Foreign" or rather "un-German" - Fraktur looks like every bad Gothic tattoo you've ever seen.  Well, to my eyes it does.

What difference will this make to your life?  None.  And if you were reading my Blip in the hope of anything life changing, you'd be waiting a long time for anything like that to happen.
